'I don't have to worry'
 
"I got a Reverse Mortgage so I could keep my home," says Shirley Deuble of North Canton. "If I hadn't, I probably would have had to sell."
 
At age 71, Mrs. Deuble faced rising costs at home: "Maintenance costs were all going up, and there was lawn care-I'm of an age where I can't get out and do my own lawn. The costs were mounting and mounting. It came to a decision of doing something or selling," she explains.
 
"I had been reading about Reverse Mortgages and had been thinking about it, but it really didn't hit home until my pension took a dive with the stock market and so on. I was having trouble meeting payments, but I wanted to stay in my own home. It suits me perfectly. The Reverse Mortgage has been a wonderful thing for me. Even if I outlive the value of my home, I still get to stay here. I don't have to worry about that."
 
She reports that the Reverse Mortgage improved her financial security: "I feel very secure here now, because I can live here as long as I am physically able to. There's no danger of me having to sell and move out unless I need to for health reasons."

'It was easy'
 
Byron E. and Betty Schaller of Chesterland used a Reverse Mortgage to buy a summer home. "We were interested in buying the second half of a summer home that we have in Minnesota," explains Mr. Schaller. "I was not interested in taking out a traditional mortgage and making payments. We realized that a Reverse Mortgage was a way to get the necessary cash."
 
Was the process of getting the Reverse Mortgage difficult? "It was easy," says Mr. Schaller. "Allan Mangun (at Signature Mortgage) was wonderful-very friendly, very informative and took pains with us. He made sure we understood everything, including the fact that there are fees up front on a Reverse Mortgage."
